SEIKO 5 Sports SRDP55K1 The Great Wave off Kanagawa Mod #2

The Great Wave off Kanagawa (神奈川沖浪裏, Kanagawa-oki nami ura) is an iconic woodblock print by Katsushika Hokusai (葛飾北斎), circa 1829 to 1833 in the late Edo period. To date, this remains as Hokusai's most famous piece of work and has been one of the most recognisable works of Japanese Art in the world.

Given the rich history and origin of Hokusai and SEIKO, this is a perfectly paired appreciation of art and horology.

This SEIKO SRPD55K1 is an automatic with manual winding capacity mechanical watch featuring a 42.5mm diameter stainless stain case modified with (i) The Great Wave off Kanagawa Dial, (ii) Grand Seiko Dauphine Hands, (iii) The Submariner Bezel, (iv) Ceramic Bezel Insert - Yacht Master Silver, (v) Mirror Polished Silver Chapter Ring, (vi) Double Domed Blue AR Coated Sapphire Crystal, and (vii) Vintage Calf Strap.

Very nice watch

Unfortunately there is no available one for me time being but I would like to buy one as soon as it appears. Looks very nice. It’s an art piece.

A most beautiful timepiece

Every single element of this modded Seiko 5 make for a truly special, interesting and most beautiful wristwatch!
The white bezel with the marine-ish blue strap (which is also extremely comfy) complement this amazing dial to near perfection.
The hour marks & GS hands add a nice flair without being overbearing.
The dial came out even better than expected, it has a slight grainy texture, which gives it a nice look when looked upon.
The lume is probably one of the feature that surprised me the most... It looks absolutely fantastic.
Communication was great and shipping was fast.
On the other hand, the watch came with some scratches, on the case between the two front lugs, and on the bezel inserts... Nothing too dramatic as they're not that visible... But it's a bit of a bummer nonetheless.
I'm overall very pleased with the watch, it received many praises from watch enthusiasts and others =)
